Solène Le Pape

Solène Le Pape is a PhD student at the EDEG in Montpellier. She studied political sciences and international economics at Bordeaux Political Studies Institute (Sciences Po Bordeaux) and then specialized in environmental studies at the Institute of Environment Management and Sustainable Development (ISIGE Mines Paris Tech).
Her PhD thesis focuses on the environmental justice of groundwater protection programs for drinking water supply, integrating Nature-based Solutions (maintaining forest cover, developing agroecology, protecting wetlands...). She is interested in how these programs, which target changes in land use on the impluvium (upstream) to protect the storage and natural production of quality water for drinking water (downstream), can generate tensions and/or inequalities between stakeholders, both in their development and implementation. Before starting her thesis, Solène worked at Hydroconseil, a consulting company specialized in international cooperation projects for the reinforcement of essential public services (drinking water, sanitation, waste management…) and had several internship experiences in international development agencies and institutions (NGOs, funding agencies…).
